ARREYB News

ARREYB News was Arrey Bate’s first bold step into the digital space. In 2017, during his second year at university, Arrey made the difficult decision to drop out of school and launched a news platform—ARREYB News.
With no technical skills, no experience in social media, and limited support, the first year brought in no income. But it was also a time of deep personal and national crisis, as political unrest and armed conflict intensified across Cameroon.
In the midst of gunfire, fear, and uncertainty, Arrey turned to his blog as a means of survival. Living on just $18 a month, he began to experiment, learn, and adapt. Though many attempts failed, a few key discoveries gradually compounded and unlocked the path to building a sustainable digital business.
From struggling to get a single ad to running a reputable media platform, Arrey’s journey has led to national and international recognition—including a live BBC interview in London, a bestselling digital book with over 3,000 copies sold, and training sessions that have empowered over 2,000 young Africans in using social media to build careers and businesses.
1,200+ published articles later, ARREYB News the platform become a trusted voice and training ground for aspiring journalists.
One full-circle moment Arrey always talks about–when he returned to school to complete his university degree in 2019–although being a student, Arrey was already supervising some of his fellow mates who came as media interns under his own institution ARREYB News. A testament to what resilience, digital knowledge, and purpose can build.
