Francis Ngannou – Tiger Mentality Lessons (By Eyong Enoh) ”Watching Francis Ngannou last week end defend and retain his title as the World UFC Heavyweight champion was thrilling. For me, there were lots of lessons to take home. 1) Tiger Mentality: The Tiger Mentality is knowing you have the power, courage and strength to be a winner and a success, and to become a better version of yourself. This defines exactly how Francis approached this fight. Without this Mentality he wouldn’t have engaged. There were ample reasons even from professional advice why he shouldn’t fight. With a torn MCL and injured ACL, his Doctor told him not to fight, yet his strong inner conviction superimposed the surrounding situations, making him defy science. 2) Adaptability: For someone whose previous victories have been via hard knock out punches, this can become a pattern you are stuck with and if it doesn’t go that way, you lose yourself and your edge. But Francis applied one of the lessons of a Tiger, the ability to adapt. His ability to win without using a knock out punch, but his wrestling and grappling skills made him not just a real champion, but a champion of champions. When you can win without using your strongest weapons, then you have mastered the art of winning. 3) Better Version of Yourself:When you research more about Francis, you will notice that he is always learning, always improving, always getting better, meeting with experts in certain skills to add to his artillery. What a way to grow and build more capacity. While Francis demonstrated these abilities in a one-hour fight, it has taken years of hard work to get to this level. For you and me, we have to put out this qualities on a daily basis, at work, at home and other things we do. As you start the week, go with a Tiger Mentality, be ready to adapt to things that will come your way, finally be open to learn, unlearn and relearn things that will help you become a better version of yourself ”PS: Eyong Enoh’s latest book “How to Become a Successful Professional Footballer” will be available in the days ahead and I’ll be sharing that with you (Samuel Eto’o wrote the foreword of the book). I know you might be wondering ‘…but Arrey, is this not a book for aspiring footballers? The answer is NO! It actually details a straight route to building a successful career and becoming a professional based on The 4Ps Principle. The book will work for you irrespective of what you’re building, so I’ll keep you posted! I wish you a great week ahead and I’m rooting for you
